mati\u00e8re plastique form\u00e9e de polym\u00e8res de m\u00e9thacrylate de m\u00e9thyle, un ester de l'acide m\u00e9thacrylique.<\/p><p>Dans le langage courant, le terme m\u00e9thacrylate d\u00e9signe g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement le polym\u00e8re de m\u00e9thacrylate de m\u00e9thyle et est \u00e9galement connu sous les noms commerciaux de :<\/p><p>Plexiglas, Resartglass, Vitroflex, Trespex, Acrivill, Deglas, Limacryl, Lucite, Oroglas, Perclax, Perspex.<\/p><p>Il est tr\u00e8s transparent, plus que le verre, au point de poss\u00e9der des caract\u00e9ristiques proches de celles des fibres optiques en termes de transparence.<\/p><p>Il existe deux types de m\u00e9thacrylate :<\/p><p>M\u00e9thacrylate extrud\u00e9 : cr\u00e9\u00e9 par un processus d'extrusion pour obtenir des feuilles d'une \u00e9paisseur tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cise, adapt\u00e9es au thermoformage sous vide.<\/p><p>M\u00e9thacrylate coul\u00e9 : cr\u00e9\u00e9 en coulant le mat\u00e9riau sous forme liquide entre 2 feuilles de verre. L'\u00e9paisseur de la feuille n'est pas parfaitement homog\u00e8ne.<\/p><p>Avec le m\u00e9thacrylate coul\u00e9, seules les figures tr\u00e8s souples peuvent \u00eatre thermoform\u00e9es.
