pol\u00edmeros de metilmetacrilato, un \u00e9ster del \u00e1cido metacr\u00edlico.<\/p><p>En el lenguaje com\u00fan, el t\u00e9rmino metacrilato se refiere generalmente al pol\u00edmero de metacrilato de metilo y tambi\u00e9n se conoce por los nombres comerciales de:<\/p><p>Plexigl\u00e1s, Resartglass, Vitroflex, Trespex, Acrivill, Deglas, Limacryl, Lucite, Oroglas, Perclax, Perspex.<\/p><p>Es muy transparente, m\u00e1s que el vidrio, hasta el punto de poseer caracter\u00edsticas que se aproximan a las de la fibra \u00f3ptica en t\u00e9rminos de transparencia.<\/p><p>Hay dos tipos de metacrilato:<\/p><p>Metacrilato extruido: creado mediante un proceso de extrusi\u00f3n para obtener l\u00e1minas de un grosor muy preciso, adecuadas para el termoformado al vac\u00edo.<\/p><p>Metacrilato fundido: se crea fundiendo el material en forma l\u00edquida entre 2 l\u00e1minas de vidrio. El espesor de la hoja no es perfectamente homog\u00e9neo.<\/p><p>Con el metacrilato fundido s\u00f3lo se pueden termoformar figuras muy blandas.
